It is an almost three hour long ride to the very popular ‘Pauliani Park’ from Athens. It is part of the Municipality of Lamia in central Greece. There are 498 inhabitants and it is at an elevation of 1.040 m.
It was a chilly day when I went last week, but at least is wasn’t raining. It looked like it had rained before my arrival, as the trail in the park was very muddy. Athletic attire and hiking shoes/boots are a must. It is a popular place for hikers. The hikers said that the two hour hike up the mountain where the replica of the ‘Game of Thrones’ chair is located was gruelling.
I opted out of the hike as I had my hands full with my camera and was already tired from walking through the park, which takes about three hours to explore. The longer the walk the more the pictures! There was a lot to photograph with the funny art installations and beautiful streams.
When I took this photograph I didn’t notice the children in the background.
It looks very spooky!

Planetero is a village with tavernas and enchanting sycamore trees. It is located 25 km from the town of Kalavrita in the Peloponnese. There are many bodies of water. Little waterfalls and crystal-clear streams, cascade through the forest. The trees-the most unusual I’ve ever seen-are oddly shaped. It is a great place to visit anytime of the year for the day.
The area is know for its fishfarming. The tavernas are popular for their fresh trout. Ancient Greek traveller Pausanias travelled here in 160 B.C to listen to the “toothless fish”; the local trout were reputed to chirp! I didn’t hear any trouts chirping, but I did come across a lot of plant life and animals as you will see from my photographs in the next posts.
Whilst taking photographs of the hectares of burnt forest on the outskirts of Athens I came across this unusual decor. Red ribbon adorned a burnt tree and a lone red ornament hung on a branch.
My guess is that someone who probably lives in the area wanted to bring a little colour and joy by decorated the tree with Christmas decorations to mask ‘uplift’ the bleak surroundings.
And that’s what we all have to to in our own lives and in times like these. Find that joy, the light. Because we should not blanket ourselves in darkness.

An orange tree and an orange cat!

A beautiful cherry tree in the garden. I need to grow some raspberries too, as they are hard to find in Greece.
Winter is nearing its end and this cherry tree is coming alive again. Can’t wait to eat its’ sweet fruit.
My first attempt at painting trees on a large canvas. I was inspired by a couple of videos that I saw on YouTube and thought I’d give it a try. Trees are fun to paint and I don’t think that you can mess up too badly.
